I moved to California in 1997, I lived there for 6 months. I experienced culture shock upon settling in. I had never lived anywhere were you could drive for more than an hour without reaching a rural area. Each town was almost like traveling to another part of the country, or in some cases even another part of the world.
I lived in Garden Grove, which was mostly Korean. I worked as a gas station manager for a Korean immigrant.
I did manage to go to Disneyland, it rained the entire time I was there, but that did not diminish the experience. Having come from the Midwest, I thought it was a pretty cool place.
Huntington Beach California is where my x lived, and I spent a lot of time there on the beach. That beach is known as one of the top three beaches in the world for surfing. Coincidentally it is also known as one the three top beaches for great white shark attacks.
